About Ted Nelson:
Ted Nelson works as a portfolio manager for the investment management arm of Utah Retirement Systems (URS), the group that oversees retirement funds on behalf of public employees in Utah. URS holds investments in traditional securities in addition to real assets, private equity, and hedge funds. Ted has been with URS since 2017, where he started as an analyst. He has directly participated in more than $3 Billion of transactions, including apartments, industrial, office, retail, healthcare, data centers, life science, manufactured housing, and single-family rentals. He co-founded the internal real estate research function for URS and is active in setting portfolio strategy. Ted serves as chair of the Investor Committee with the National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries (NCREIF) and is broadly engaged with multiple industry trade groups. Ted earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Utah State University, an MBA from Brigham Young University and is both a CFA and CAIA charterholder.
